Clapham Common has once again been recognised as one of the UK’s best-managed parks, retaining its prestigious Green Flag Award for 2026/2027.

The Green Flag Award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces, recognising sites that are welcoming, safe, well maintained and managed to a high standard. Retaining the award reflects the ongoing commitment and collaboration of everyone involved in caring for Clapham Common.

Over the past year, the Common has benefited from the combined efforts of Lambeth Council, park staff, contractors, the Clapham Common Management Advisory Committee (CCMAC), the Friends of Clapham Common, local businesses, community groups and hundreds of volunteers. Together, they have supported a wide range of initiatives, from habitat management and tree planting to litter picking, watering young trees during dry periods and improving the overall visitor experience.

The Green Flag Award recognises not only the quality of the park itself but also the strength of the partnership that helps look after it. Clapham Common is one of south London’s most loved green spaces, welcoming millions of visitors each year, and maintaining that standard relies on the contribution of many different people and organisations.

CCMAC would like to thank everyone who has played a part over the past year. Whether through day-to-day park management, strategic planning, volunteering, supporting community initiatives or simply helping to care for the Common, every contribution has helped ensure Clapham Common continues to thrive.
