Record £9,058.52 Raised at Carols at the Bandstand

Clapham came together in festive spirit like never before this December.

At this year’s Carols at the Bandstand on Clapham Common, residents and visitors packed the green space to sing, celebrate and support a cause close to home and the result was truly remarkable.

A record-breaking £9,058.52 was raised for Royal Trinity Hospice, more than double last year’s total. This year’s event drew its biggest crowd ever, bringing festive cheer to the Common while making a tangible difference for a vital local charity.

Doubling Last Year’s Total

To put the achievement in context:

  • Last year’s Carols at the Bandstand raised just under £4,000.
  • This year’s total of £9,058.52 reflects a significant increase in both attendance and generosity.

These figures show not just community participation, but genuine enthusiasm for giving back and for supporting palliative care services provided by Royal Trinity Hospice across south London.

A Community Effort from Every Corner

The event wouldn’t have been possible without the contribution of a number of local partners and volunteers:

  • The Friends of Clapham Common played a central role in organising the event and rallying support.
  • The Lambeth Wind Orchestra provided live music, helping create a joyful and uplifting atmosphere.
  • Generous sponsors included Enhance Fitness, Patrick Henry London and Thomas’s London Day Schools, whose support helped cover costs and maximise fundraising.

The success of the event was driven by strong local support and visibility. Alongside the organisers, Best of Clapham, Clapham’s largest local media platform, played a key role in promoting the event to thousands of residents, helping ensure record attendance and engagement.

More Than Just a Carol Service

For many in south London, Carols at the Bandstand has become more than an annual date on the calendar it’s a moment where the community stops, gathers and celebrates together in one of Clapham’s most recognisable spaces.

This year’s record-breaking result adds another chapter to that tradition. Residents didn’t just turn up they stepped up.

Looking Ahead

With such strong engagement and support, there’s every reason to look forward to next year’s event. Carols at the Bandstand continues to show what an active, generous and connected community Clapham has become, and how a shared space like the Common can bring people together for good.
