More mighty oaks on the Common

The Friends of Clapham Common, a member of the Clapham Common MAC, is planning to plant 20 oak trees throughout February and March as part of a wider programme to increase the tree canopy across Clapham Common.

The first planting session takes place on Saturday 15 February and if you would like to take part please meet at the Bandstand at 9.45am.

The first trees will planted along The Avenue – the South Circular – and they will help reduce noise and visibility of heavy traffic, and, more importantly, improve air quality, provide new habitat for wildlife and increase biodiversity on the Common.

There will be digging, staking and watering and people can help in line with their ability to do so.

If you are available, please contact the Friends at friends@claphamcommon.org.
